LVWC Welcomes Japan’s Takushoku University Wrestlers

Wolf finishes second at USA Maccabiah Games team trials

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh sophomore Gordon Wolf made a bid to make the United States wrestling team at this summer’s Maccabiah Games in Israel as he competed at the Maccabiah USA Team Trials, Sunday at the Palestra in Philadelphia. Competing at 86 kg./189 lbs., Wolf came up just short of making the USA Maccabiah team, going 4-1 in a six-man round-robin to finish second at his weight class. (more…)

LVWC athletes compete in Columbia

Two LVWC resident athletes, Nester Taffur and Santiago Martinez, competed in the Columbian National Tournament.  with Taffur defeating Martinez 10-0.

Both made the finals with Taffur (Bolivar & LVWC), defeating Martinez (Bogota & LVWC) 10-0. Nestor

Taffur had 2 technical falls and Santi Martinez had a fall 8-0 in reaching the finals.

Winning this tournament qualifies Nestor for the 2017 Colombian National National Team and for the Pan Am Games.

World Cup, Iran: Day 8

The stars lined up. United World Wrestling wanted Iran to be in the finals. We wanted to wrestle well through the pool of death to get to the finals. We wanted to wrestle Iran under these political pressures, in their arena. Ultimately, the World Cup set the stage for the Friday night fireworks of Iran vs USA. (more…)
