We wrestled 2nd in our pool but the first match was very exciting. Russia and Azeberjian tied 4 wins each and the classification points were tied as each match went all 3 points to 1 so classification points were tied 16 to 16. Next to criteria was pins and technical falls and there were none. So the match came done to technical points scored and from my unofficial count was Azerbaijan 33 and Russia 32 as the Azerbaijan 125kg won 8-1.
We wrestled well against Georgia winning 7-1. Tony Ramos got the momentum going with a 6-1 victory. World Champion Logan stieber followed after falling behind 4-0 with a solid 7-4 win over a solid opponent who was coming off a very good tournament in Paris. Frank Molinaro scored two high crotches and double legs for an 8-1 win. James Green looked awesome scoring from leg attacks and ankle laces with a 10-0 first period tech fall. Jordan Burroughs won 2-2 and is definitely a crowd favorite. David Taylor had a very good win at 86kg with an 8-3 win. Olympic champion Kyle Synder rocked his Georgian opponent with a 10-0, 5 takedown tech fall. Zach Rey got ankle laced by the olympic bronze medalist 11-0. I felt everyone performed well and at 6 pm have a very good Russian team who just barely lost to an excellent Azerbaijan team.
