Pan Am Updates

Hello all: I have a bit of time before this morning’s workout so I thought I’d give you guys an update from out here in Colorado Springs.  We arrived here last Wednesday and completed a three-day training cycle followed by a day off on Sunday.   We will complete another three-day cycle and then depart for Rionegro, Columbia on Thursday bright and early.

Our training has been going well and everybody has great partners.  The room had the following athletes in for this camp:  Troy Nickerson (Cornell, OTC), Angel Escobedo (Indiana U., OTC), Sam Hazewinkel (Oklahoma), Derek Moore (UC Davis, Army), Angel Cejudo (Army), Phil Simpson (West Point, Army), Justin Pearch (Army), Chase Pami (Cal Poly), Trent Paulson (Iowa State), Tanner Hall (Boise, ID), Jake Herbert (Northwestern), Dan Erekson (Iowa), Moza Fay (UNI, OTC), Nick Marable (Missouri), Jake Varner (Iowa St, NLWC), Tommy Rowlands (Ohio St., OhioRTC), Mike Zadick (Iowa, GatorWC), Teyon Ware (Oklahoma, NLWC), Tervel Dlagnev (Neb-Kearney, OhioRTC), and of course our two LVAC athletes Keith Gavin and Steve Mocco.  Coaches present are (along with myself) Zeke Jones, Bill Zadick, Bobby Douglas, and Brandon Slay.   I may have missed a couple athletes but still quite a collection of wrestling knowledge.

A US delegation of wrestlers left this morning for the Beat the Streets Gala in Times Square on Thursday.  If you are around you should definitely make it into the city as this will be a tremendous event for wrestling.  This USA vs. Russia dual put some of our best vs. some of theirs so it will be exciting.  The dual will be on a jumbo-tron right in the heart of the City.  It will also be streamed to Flowrestling.  For more information as well as the lineups go to http://www.beat-the-streets.org.

The Pan Am Championship team will leave on Thursday with competition on Sunday.  We will bring the following athletes and coaches:

Coach: Zeke Jones                                                           Ron Fazio

Should be an exciting time!

In other wrestling related news Tommy Rowlands has just launched his new line of wrestling apparel and gear.  The brand name is Conquest and can be found through Facebook.  I believe it has just went live in the last two days so all of you Facebookies check it out.  It is a good opportunity to support a wrestler trying to branch out in another industry while continuing to train.

Finally,  a big thanks to my Lehigh Staff for covering the LVAC clinics while I am granted this opportunity.  Coaches Santoro, Hughes, and Dillon will be running the Sunday/Tuesday LVAC clinics in my absence.  Thanks!

All for now,

Jason Kutz
